This is also for me. I’m in the same boat. And I’m tired of it. It makes it hard to get anywhere if I’m always blowing holes in my own dang boat.
Up until now, I thought I’d just always feel bad about myself. I’ve made mistakes and done things I’m not proud of, just like every other person on the planet. But my past does not have to define me. Unless I let it. And I can’t let it take away my future.

It’s gonna take some work, but it takes more work dealing with feeling crummy about myself. So when the thoughts come, I’ll tell myself they’re not true. I’ll probably even write it down. I’ll also write down that my best is good enough.

If it’s too overwhelming, I will use distraction. Audiobooks, cleaning my house, taking a walk, taking a shower. Those kinds of things will help keep my mind off myself until those feelings pass, or get easier to deal with.

Eventually, this will retrain my brain to automatically redirect, or even stop these thoughts.

After that, if they pop up, they’ll quickly fade away.

I know it won’t happen overnight. Thinking habits we’ve acquired over time, require time to get rid of. But I’m okay with that. I’m not afraid of hard work. I want to be the best version of me that I can be, the version that won’t sit around thinking negative stuff.

How do I know this will work? I’ve had practice with this! Dealing with depression has taught me a lot about reframing things, looking at things through different perspectives, and retraining my mind. This negative thinking about myself is not the hardest thought process I will have overcome. I’ve worked through way harder.

If you struggle with thinking poorly of yourself, I hope this helps put you on a more positive and hopeful path. I’ll be sharing updates, if I have any breakthroughs, or other ideas on helpful stuff I learn. If you have any tips for me, I’d love to hear them!

Your best is good enough. You are good enough. You are important. And your hopes and dreams matter. Please take these things to heart.
